Summer at the Movies

Registration for all 2019 camps is now closed.

Introduce the child in your life to the world of the performing arts! They'll explore the exciting worlds of our favorite films as we enjoy stories and genres through the magic of theatre. We believe everyone has a voice. Our process-based summer camp programs are designed to build confidence, strengthen communication skills and develop a sense of ensemble and community. Camps for young people ages 3 to 17 focus on individual and collective development in a fun, supportive and skills-based environment. Tuition ranges from $145 to $895 and varies depending on camp type and number of weeks.

Campers will enjoy guided activities and will have one snack break and open play period. Parents must pick students up at a designated area between 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Before Care and After Care are only available at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and Mason Community Center locations.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

For students not enrolled in Before Care, we will begin checking in students at 8:45 a.m. If your child is not enrolled in After Care and is not picked up by 4:45 p.m., you will be charged the extended care rate for the week.

Mason Community Center

Pricing and registration for the program at Mason Community Center can be found through their website during registration.

All Other Locations

Due to location availability, we are unable to take campers before 8:45 a.m. or keep them past 5 p.m. Drop-off will occur between 8:45 and 9 a.m. Pick-up will occur between 4:30 and 5 p.m. All campers must be picked up by 5 p.m.

Pick-up and drop-off procedures will vary by location. All information will be emailed to parents prior to camp starting. Instructional sheets will be available to download from the website as of May 10, 2019. Anyone picking up a child from camp must be listed on their paperwork. Students will not be permitted to leave camp with anyone who is not authorized in advance. When picking up a child from camp, the parent or guardian must be listed on their paper work and present a valid ID.
We do not provide snack or lunch to campers in full-day and Performance Academy camps. We do provide one snack for half-day campers. Please be aware that in order to serve as many students as possible, we have implemented a NO NUT rule, and we cannot refrigerate or heat lunches.

For campers attending camp at the Pogo Play location, lunch is available to order through their cafe. An order form will be sent to registered families to order online.
Camp classes range from 15 to 20 students. Performance camps may reach 30 students but will maintain a student to teacher ratio of 10:1.
Our teachers are theatre professionals with years of experience and a strong focus on education.
All children of any experience level are welcome. Our professional teachers adjust class material based on the students’ levels of experience.
Regardless of previous acting experience, we group students by age. It is our philosophy that students remain with their age peers, and the instructor can adjust teaching styles based on experience within the groups. If you have any questions about the classes, please contact us.
We ask that parents do not stay during the camp day or enter classrooms while camp is in progress. Students are less inhibited and feel more confident when adults other than the teacher are not in the room. If you need to pick up your child early, please contact the Camp Coordinator, who will retrieve your camper and bring them to you in the lobby.
Yes! Each camp session focuses on different skill sets that can be used as a standalone experience or combined to make for an even more in-depth experience with theatre. A multi-camp discount will be available with your registration, starting April 1, 2019.
SUMMER THEATRE DAY CAMP
All full-day, one-week camps lead up to an informal sharing of a five to 10-minute scene for friends and family to attend on the last day of camp. It will be performed with the other age groups at 4 p.m. Given that the goal of the Summer Theatre Day camp is to develop fundamental skills and teach theatre process, there are no costumes, props or scenery used during the informal sharing of work.

We are excited that preparations for our new mainstage theatre complex and other renovations will begin this summer. As a result, it is necessary for us to go offsite for some of our camp programs this year. We decided to go to neighborhoods and cities that are often too far for families to get to the Playhouse for camp and to increase our service to and relationships with other communities in the Greater Cincinnati region.
